Sex Offenders

LAS VEGAS — Eager to protect children from sexual predators, Nevada and other states across the nation are adopting laws that publicize the names of offenders on the Internet.
But sex offenders say they have rights, too, and argue it's wrong to lump those guilty of minor offenses with the worst offenders. Some are challenging the laws.
"People think that imposing these draconian retroactive laws are a way to keep their children safe," said Margaret McLetchie, an American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada lawyer.

The above is a direct quote from the Las Vegas news. Once again the ACLU in the United States, another left wing fanatical organization, is trying to block a law that will protect children. These people spend their time protecting the so-called rights of sex offenders without a thought for the children. In most people’s minds there is no worse crime than assaulting or abusing a child and yet these folks make a statement like the one above “"People think that imposing these draconian retroactive laws are a way to keep their children safe,"! News flash!! Yes that is what they think and for good reason. Today with these predators roaming our streets feeling somewhat safe because of the light sentences given out both the USA and Canada for these types of crimes parents are afraid to let their kids out of sight for even a second. The ACLU use the example of an 18 year who had consensual sex with 15 year old and was charged with statutory rape. This young man will now have his name posted as a sex offender for life. Simple solution, take his name off the list if he really isn’t a sexual predator. No they want to scrap the entire law because of a few oddities like this. Common sense should be applicable in these rare cases and adjustments made. They protect these criminal’s rights as if they deserve rights at all. The laws are on the books and if someone breaks them knowing the consequences then so be it. They have forfeited their rights and should take responsibility for their actions. But no, the ACLU types want to help them, although mountains of scientific evidence states that their preference for sexual contact with children cannot be changed with any psychology that we know of today. Let’s focus on protecting the children first and rid our communities of these sick individuals.
