BIG MONEY(NO ACOUNTABILITY) EXECUTIVES

I HAVE JUST READ DAVE'S BLOG ON HOW UNION MEMBERS ARE ALWAYS TIEING UP MANAGEMENT FOR PETTY GREIVENCES AND HE IS RIGHT! AND YES" CONSETIONS SHOULD BE MADE. FIRST LETS START BY TAKING AWAY EXECUTIVE BONUSES AND STOCK OPTIONS AWAY,AFTER ALL ITS HARD TIMES BABY.IF I MAKE A BIG MISTAKE,I COULD BE SENT HOME FOR A PERIOD OF TIME WITHOUT PAY OR WORSE FIRED.THE BIG EXEC'S ARE ASKED TO RESIGN AND GET MILLIONS,AND FOR WHAT? GOING TO HAVARD AND MAKING SURE THERE CONTRACT IS ABSUBLUTELY BINDING!I WORK ON THE RAILROAD AND STOCKS ARE STRONG,THEY HAVE CUT OUR WORK FORCE TO THE BONE.IT USE TO BE 14 MEN TO A 25 MILE SECTION OF TRACK , NOW ITS 3 FOR 60 MILES OF TRACK!MAKING DO IS THE WAY NOW , AND AS FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY WHY ALL OF A SUDDEN CAN I GET A VEHICLE FOR 20%CHEAPER NOW AND OBVIOUSLY I PAID FOR SOMEBODIES BIG PAY OUT.I RATHER PAY THE WORKER WHO BUYS THE DOMESTIC VEHICLE,BOAT,FURNITURE AND SO ON, NOT THE EXEC WHO IMPORTS NOTHING BUT THE BEST OF EVERYTHING!DAVE ITS JUST CAUSE AND EFFECT....

Big money execs

Troy, I hate to play devil here since I'm a union gal myself.......but I haven't heard about any 'big buyouts' for auto execs.
I've heard some pretty fair deals to union employees....sure it sucks to lose your job, but the deals they were offered were, under the circumstances, pretty impressive to me. (and remember I'm a union gal...so impressive to a union gal would be freakin incredible to someone in a non union private sector job who would get 2 weeks and a pat on the back if they were lucky)
The auto execs that I know got pretty much the latter....the union people got the deals because of their union membership.
If you have some hard data on auto execs who got big buyouts, I would really like to hear about it....seriously.

Everyone With Money Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I figure a title like that should get the socialists happy! Actually, they're not really socialists, I think most of them are hard working people that get brainwashed by socialists. They're told about entitlement and coddled into think that everything will be fine, don't worry its not your fault. I don't think they understand why these "BIG EXEC'S" get paid the dough but that's for a different crowd. I wonder who the majority of people working on the line at GM are mad at. Losing your job is horrible especially when you have a family. But a lot of these people have nothing else to offer. GM offers courses so their employees can better themselves. I could be wrong, but I think those employees should be mad at themselves, not people making the BIG BUCKS. Working 30 years on a line and not moving up the company latter? I don't understand. I'm not trying to be mean. I just want to know what would possess someone to stop wanting to move ahead. I commend those people that took those courses and bettered themselves. They still have a tough road ahead, but they have skills to put on that resume and they can hold there head up high! And for those brainwashed into thinking capitalism is evil, people in Cuba just got the privilege of owning a cell phone last year but they still can't leave.

Everyone with money sucks? Betsy's response....

Hmmm, interesting title you've chosen.
Dan you clearly have some issues...'but that's for a different crowd'.....
You write "Working 30 years on a line and not working up the company latter. I dont understand."
First, I think you mean company LADDER.
I appreciate that you're 'not trying to be mean'. I'm sure you're not.
But you are being a little bit.....well thick headed. A lot thick headed actually.
Perhaps a little elitist as well.
Working on a line for 30 years is nothing to look down on. It did a lot of families a lot of good to have someone working that line to keep food on their table, clothe the family and perhaps put their children through university.
Sometimes working that line must have felt like a pretty safe, albeit boring/repetitive, way to earn a living.
When you have a family to support, the safe way is often the best....at least it feels that way at the time.
Put 10-15 years in on ANY job that has a benefit based pension and any fool will think twice or more before going anywhere else. You can't blame them for that....to stay put is a smart move.
You think the union 'brainwashed' them to stay and not take courses? Please tell me where you got that information. If you have proof, I'd like to hear it.
For goodness sakes, management negotiated a contract with these workers knowing full well that a few weeks from then, not only would they not be able to honour that contract, but they'd be laying off thousands of people.
Who was brainwashing????
Now, you mention the company ladder...hmmm...how many unionized line workers were there in the auto industry?
Compare that the to jobs in the industry that were higher on that ladder. Where on the ladder were they supposed to go?
How many higher level jobs do you think existed? If you're referring to higher level jobs in other manufacturing industries, apart from auto, have you not read that ALL manufacturing industries are suffering horribly right now and have been for months and months?
Dan640, show me the proof and then we can have a real conversation!

Betsy Attacks again

Another attack, you're 2 for 2. I think I'm going to go through all of your points and point out all your spelling and grammer mistakes.

3 vs 14

My question would be.....Should it have been 3 for 60 miles all the while or at least something less. Don't know just asking?

Management

Hey read the fourth column under the union category called "Automakers Diddling Management".
