It's Our Fault!
Submitted by Right_Said_Fred on Fri, 05/07/2010 - 09:24Listening to talk radio today I came to the realization that it’s our fault, society’s fault. Recently, the Police put operation Coral into action. I believe 70 arrests were made and guns and drugs were seized. JOE FIORITO was telling the listeners how this type of approach isn’t working. As soon as one dealer is gone someone will take his place. Lets legalize drugs was his answer, not just ”pot” but everything. I think it was JO JO Chinto agreeing whole heartedly with him. So you ask, “What’s our fault!” There’s an over welling majority of people that agree with these two people, There called Liberals and they’re running society in Canada and the U.S.! The minority of us, let’s call us logical people or right wingers are unable to do anything, we are handcuffed. It’s Society’s fault that this is happening. Joe says, “People are inherently good and they want to live their lives with dignity.” Joe is drugs already legal were you are living! WAKE up people, enough is enough. These clowns are bad people. It’s time for the black community to stand up and say, “SORRY!!!!!! And do something about THEIR problem.” It’s time for the rest of us to stop being enablers. We should send the military into Toronto and arrest every asshole that belongs to a violent gang. But that’s going to cost a lot of money you say. I say, “SO WHAT!” I would rather see my tax dollars going to house these delinquents then giving money for rehabilitation because that doesn’t work, just look at the repeat offender stats. I was watching Criminal Minds the other night and realized that almost every single person they profile is a white male, YES THEY PROFILE. I thought about it, well they usually try and catch serial killers or pedophiles and the majority of people who commit those crime are white males, so no problem. Why can’t we use the same logic? If the majority of gang members are young black men, then target them. I’ve noticed that when a crime is committed in Toronto now, there is never any mention of race. How the hell are we going to catch these criminal if we don’t know what they look like, WAKE UP. I also heard on the talk show someone say lets raise minimum wage to $20. Obviously that person doesn’t understand economics, WAKE UP. It’s time for our Government to round up all the asshole and their baby momma’s, and their families and arrest them. Charge them with living of the proceeds of crime because you can’t tell me that the parents and girlfriends have no idea were little De-shawn or big Tre gets their dough! If I have offended anyone I’d like to say, “SO WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Garbage
Submitted by Betsy on Thu, 07/30/2009 - 19:04So,with the Toronto city workers strike close to an end, they're talking about clearing up the gargage on city streets and parks within the next few days.
I'm looking at pictures of the mounds and mounds of garbage piled up so high after five weeks of no curbside pick up.
It's unbelievable.
And I think back a few months to an open house I attended for a proposed Energy from Waste facility being proposed in my municipality. This facility proposes to incinerate waste while generating energy.
I took the time to speak with someone protesting outside who was clearly in opposition to the incinerator. I listened to his concerns, which included the dangers of incineration on the environment. As I listened, I recalled a recent trip I'd made to the dump.
I asked the man, 'if you are against incineration, what do you propose we do with all of our garbage?'
He said 'we should have zero waste'.
'Have you been to the dump lately'? I asked. He said he had...he's from Sudbury and apparently he says they don't have much in their dump. Wow, good for Sudbury...I'd like to see that dump.
I'm all for zero waste.
I compost and recycle everything I can. But what to do with that other stuff that can't go in those bins? It's gotta go in the garbage. Durham Region has a great recycle rate, but there's still a bunch of garbage. And unless manufacturers change the way they package, that's not going to change. And on that note, look at the way some things are packaged...just try to imagine a way that they could reduce their packaging while still being able to ship and market those goods safely. Yes, there is a great deal of waste. But some of those things just can't be shipped without serious packaging involved or the product we end up with would not be acceptable to us as consumers. So, what are manufacturers to do?
Bottom line, we've got a lot of garbage. And unless a lot of big things change, that's going to continue. We can compost, recycle and reuse to the highest possible degree, but we will still have garbage.
So, do we transport it to a dump in big trucks that spew yucky smoke into the air? A dump that grows ever larger taking up more and more space while also leaking toxins into our soil ?
Or do we burn it and generate power?
To that man I spoke to that day(or anyone else who feels the same)....look at the piles of garbage in Toronto and tell me when we'll have zero waste. Tell me why it's better to put it in a dump than burn it for energy.
And now, I've got to go and put out my compost and recycle bins....and that bag of garbage that I just can't seem to make go away!!!
