1st Graders...Can we keep up with them?
Submitted by DaveI on Mon, 12/14/2009 - 20:57I recently purchased a DVD album with 55 episodes of old Cowboy TV shows with stars such as the Lone Ranger, Buffalo Bill and Rowdy Yates along with many more. After viewing a few Lone Ranger shows it occurred to me that as we traveled through the decades our society has gained so much knowledge and technology but at what price? These old shows just overflowed with moral lessons regardless if there was violence or not. When two guys got into a fight it usually pitted good vs bad and it was always easy to identify the hero. The story lines were usually simple and easy to follow and so as a youngster I could run outside after the show and immediately become the “masked man”. On the downside the simplicity of these shows were also their downfall as special effects started to edge its way onto TV and all of the sudden the written word and a guy dropping to ground after being shot didn’t carry as much impact as a profanity laced tirade coupled with a gunshot to the head that spewed blood all over the place. Respect for your foe became extinct and even the friends were not to be trusted. All the TV producers scrambled to get more and more so-called reality into their shows through special effects and realism that the idea of a good script and a good story dropped by the wayside. Deadly violence became a necessity because without it you wouldn’t be able to see the wound and the seeping blood, or the piece of skull flying off with the buckshot. Don’t get me wrong though, because I’m not suggesting that TV and movies create killers and violent morons as some are want to do. This is just a convenient way to explain away mass killers. What I do think it has done, however is to accelerate the growth of our children. I would submit that with the technology today and the overload of information on the TV shows that these kids are bombarded with, makes it almost impossible to shield them from any or all of it. These kids at 7 years old are far smarter than we were at the same age half a century ago and they understand more about adults then many give them credit for. These children at 7 & 8 years old know as much as many 13 year old's did in the 60’s. And while many say this is good, it can be a challenge for the parents who must realize with whom they are dealing and adjust accordingly. In the past a command from a parent did not elicit a response of any kind. Today a command may well be challenged for some logic and even if it is just “hey I’m tired” it gives them a reason to do what they are told and life hopefully goes on without a problem. What I also don’t like in this acceleration mode is the number of children who continuously watch all these smutty cartoons and early evening adult shows. They surpass their parent’s mental prowess and end up as “miniature adults”. These kids bring their learning’s, lack of discipline and questionable morals from home to pass on to our kids in the hallways and like a disease it can spread rapidly throughout any school. The sharp parent must keep up with their kids and provide them with confidence to be independent and to stand up and think for themselves. Easy to say I know, but very tough to do. I have two grandsons that are fortunate enough to have a Mom and Dad that are very good at the art of parenting which is very evident when you see the boys. I have another grandson who is very young at this point but I foresee him as being blessed with great parents as well. Every year that goes by, the job of raising children becomes more and more challenging, so keep your wits about you, Mom and Dad.

Self Defense or Murder
Submitted by DaveI on Fri, 12/11/2009 - 15:38The other day I heard a story about a woman in Oklahoma that had shot a man breaking into her house. It was an amazing story because after she heard this guy outside in the yard she immediately called 911 and the dispatcher was on the line for the entire time including when she was forced to defend herself against this home invader. She explained that a man was outside pounding on her doors and windows telling her to let him in or he would smash the window to accomplish the task. She told the dispatcher that she had a 12 gauge shotgun and did not want to use it, but would if she had too. The guy who apparently was over 6 ft tall picked up a sofa type object on her front porch, raised it over his head and proceeded to throw it threw her front window smashing it to pieces. Once he had created an opening he walked over the debris and into her house. It was at this time as he approached the woman that she shot him point blank while screaming at him and the dispatcher. She then went outside saying she thought she had killed him. Outside in the driveway was his friend, a woman passed out in the passenger seat allegedly high on drugs and alcohol. This guy it turns out had a record of burglary and drug related crimes. According to the law in this State it is crystal clear that the lady was defending herself in her own home and that will be the end of the issue. By the way she lived in a rural area. Now let’s compare that episode with what could possibly happen in Canada and specifically in Ontario if the situation was the same. Here is a brief excerpt of the law that relates to the self defense issue:
“A person is justified in using force to defend himself against an unlawful assault provided he did not provoke the assault and the force he uses is not meant to cause death or grievous bodily harm. The defense may be available even if the assailant is killed. Provocation consists of conduct intended to provoke an assault. The force used must be no more than necessary to enable him to defend himself.”
Our justice system may conclude that she provoked the assault because she did not open the door? Perhaps he had to go to the bathroom or needed a drink of water. The point being that she had no idea what he wanted other than to get in. Did she have to use deadly force? Did she not have a baseball bat or a taser handy? Could she have just strongly warned him not to assault her without shooting him? Was it necessary to kill him or could she just have shot him in the leg to slow him down so she could get away. She might also get in trouble for premeditation by telling the dispatcher she was going to shoot the intruder. Unfortunately, under Canadian law she could face a lawsuit from the family and a charge from the Crown of unlawful use of a firearm along with manslaughter which could carry a sentence of up to 8 years. This may seem outrageous to many of you but it has happened already and God forbid if the deceased assailant is a member of a visible minority because then she would be attacked mercilessly by the media and the left wing do-gooders as well. On the upside the fact that she’s a woman will definitely help her chances as opposed to being a healthy male who would have been treated much more poorly and if he was white he would have no chance at all. This is a sad state of affairs but it is exactly where we stand today in the world of “Political Correctness” and the “save and rehabilitate the bad guys” mental set. My choice would still be to shoot the guy. As a friend once said to me “I’d rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

The Hoax of “Man-Made” Global Warming
Submitted by DaveI on Wed, 12/09/2009 - 13:03Recently it was discovered that the Organization in the UK where most, if not all of the data on man- made Global warming was developed over the past 25 years had lied and misconstrued information to support the theory that man has caused the Warming of the Planet. There were thousands of pieces of information including damning communications between the so-called scientists that showed bias and outright lies were used to keep this myth alive. My guess would be that not many reading this blog are familiar with the details of this discovery because the main stream media is not covering this revelation. They have chosen to ignore it because it doesn’t fit the template required to push this agenda through to its conclusion which, is to turn over the control of the United States and Canada’s energy consumption to the new Global Government which has been formed by the United Nations. This will mean that the largest industrialized nation in the world and another in the top ten will basically turn over their economies to foreigners. How you say? Well consider that the new government will be able to dictate to our industries how much energy they can use, the amount of emissions they can put into the atmosphere and how large a carbon footprint they can maintain. If they don’t meet these imposed standards they will be taxed in a punitive manner. Companies then will be forced to 1. Cut costs (jobs) 2. Raise prices (hit to consumer) or 3. Become uncompetitive with Global competition (those that do not have to comply with these standards China- India & smaller third world nations)and be forced to shut down. The objective behind this is not so much climate control as it is the redistribution of wealth from the North American civilization to the other poorer nations of the world. So if man-made global warming is found to be a hoax it would severely damage the entire UN plan which of course, is unconceivable from a Liberal point of view. While helping developing nations grow their economies appears to be a noble cause, this is not the way to do it. During times when kings, tsars and dictators were the ruling governments of the day you could probably make a more reasonable argument about taking from these elites and spreading their unearned wealth around. But it doesn’t work in North America because most of the wealth has been accumulated through hard work and ingenuity by ordinary folks and not through birth rites or military coups. What reasoning is there for taking away from self reliant, self made men and women and giving it to third world countries that for the most part are still ruled by despots? Once again the compassionate Liberals and socialists just want control of the money so they can hand it out indiscriminately to the needy with no thought to where it originated and in what manner it could be spent productively (think dark black hole). The brain washing of a generation seems to have been working and therefore the results may be achieved in Copenhagen this week. People get yourself educated on this subject because if you don’t, you will be following the herd into the slaughterhouse and the worse of it is, you will be smiling and thinking you have done a good thing.

Liar Liar Pants on Fire
Submitted by DaveI on Sat, 12/05/2009 - 12:10If you want to focus on learning a skill which will be extremely useful to you during your lifetime then learn to lie properly. Our society today, demands that you know how to lie and more so, to do it with passion. If you think I am kidding consider the justice system which is built around the ability to lie convincingly. If you are arrested or charged with a crime and you are guilty every lawyer worth his or her salt will tell you to lie by pleading not guilty. In this way the system has to prove you guilty within a reasonable doubt. If you are sued on a civil matter then there is a need to prove your guilt through a preponderance of the evidence and therefore you always have a chance of winning the case. Politicians above all others must master this skill if they are ever to be successful. They call it spin but the bottom line is it is deceit by way of omission, the twisting of facts or just bold face lying. Think about the celebrities who get caught with their hands in the evil cookie jar and then tell me which ones ever come right out and tell you the truth before they are forced to do so if ever. Sure David Letterman did a mea culpa on national TV but this was after years of lying to his wife and others. How about all of the athletes that took steroids and then adamantly denied it to the public and in some cases to the Congress of the United States and the Justice Department? But it is not just criminals and famous people that lie it is every one of us who twist the truth every day to suit our needs. If you get stopped by the police for speeding do you immediately say to the cop “Yes I was speeding I deserve the ticket” and then smile while you accept a $100 fine? If your child breaks an expensive piece of furniture are the chances good that they will readily admit to it or say “It wasn’t me!” In the past a man’s word was his bond and in most cases you could take it to the bank because people had to have trust in other folks in order to make society work in the old days. Most times it was a matter of honour and folks such as knights and royals would prefer to die rather than damage their reputation. The Military is the last harbinger of honour as I see it because they require this attribute if an army is to function properly and each soldier is to rely on his or her comrade on the field of battle. Even when captured they do not lie when interrogated they just relate minimum details like rank, name and serial number. So you ask, “How did we get here?” My guess is that our Liberal society has and continues to focus on the “ME” premise and not the good of the whole, that being our families, our culture, our society and our country. Rules and principles have been thrown out the window if it means I can get a better deal for myself. The media and the guru’s make fun of religion and anything else that isn’t based strictly on the quest for a hedonistic society that has no moralistic boundaries. Truth is a premise that can make you a fool, a rat or a loser whereby lying shows you have courage, moxy and good damage control PR people. It is foolish to expect the truth from anyone today so sadly I say to you, be aware and always consider you are being told a lie until you can verify it yourself.

Are there no Honest Men Left
Submitted by DaveI on Thu, 12/03/2009 - 11:59It never ceases to amaze me that so many people are ready and willing to get in line and follow the latest fad, movement or so-called “good cause” without exploring the facts and information surrounding it. This latest “Man-Made Global Warming Issue” is another hoax perpetrated on society by the elitists around the world that think they know what’s best for everyone. Al Gore and his ilk have made millions from this myth about man (and in particular the North American man) causing the earth’s climate change. The so-called science for this conclusion has never been verified and now we see why. The scientists who were sceptical of this fallacy were always brushed off by the elitists and were never allowed to publish their opinions and supporting evidence in the Science Journals. Evidence supporting the fact that any warming of the planet was not man-made was destroyed lest it get into the wrong hands. The socialist governments around the world needed this scam to be believed so they could perpetuate one of the biggest frauds the Western World has ever seen. You see this was to be the “Mother of the Redistribution of the Wealth” programs. Through the guise of “Global Warming” trillions of dollars would be moved from the USA, Canada, Mexico and the EU (Not China and India) to all of the third world countries in Africa and around the World. Even today after the evidence has spilled into the public arena people still blindly support this fear mongering bunch of liars as they continue to try and get to “One World Order” through this bogus scheme. To believe in so called “Green Practices” is not a bad thing if it makes sense. For instance, changing appliances to save energy makes sense because you save money and it cuts down on the overall use of energy in total. On the other hand to give up your gas-driven lawn mower for a push mower because of so-called carbon emissions which will warm the earth is not common sense. It is a surrender to fear mongering and nonsensical facts. Even recycling can be argued as unnecessary if you consider the cost of the entire recycle infrastructure weighed against incinerators and landfills. I read somewhere that 81% of the USA land area is unpopulated which begs the question why can’t we use some of it for landfill. Cannot modern technology develop incinerators that will prevent the output from becoming smog and forget about Carbon Emissions altogether? These Global Warming hucksters are about people lying to get what they want, it’s that simple. I don’t really know who to trust these days as most politicians are so adept at spinning tales to fit their arguments. I guess in the future we just have to ask ourselves “Does this Make Sense?” before climbing on board with any political party or candidate. When scientists talk about “consensus” beware, because science is proven facts not consensus. When they tell you “man” causes the carbon emissions that heat up the earth right after you see scientific evidence that cow flatulence contributes to 80% of carbon emissions it should “ring a bell”. When the mainstream media does not even entertain a dissenting view on this subject it should make you stop and think “Why?” Don’t be a sheep be a stallion or mare leading the herd.

WAR..What Part of The Word Don’t You Understand!
Submitted by DaveI on Thu, 11/26/2009 - 11:18It infuriates me when these left wing elitists stand up and berate our military personnel about prisoner abuse, torture and minor assaults. WE ARE AT WAR! These combatants are trying to kill our soldiers and have been successful too many times and yet the Lib’s are fanatical about the rights of these guys. It’s all well and good that they want our Countries to be seen as kind and benevolent but for God’s sake not at the peril of our men on the battlefield. If our soldiers now have the additional burden of worrying whether their actions on the battlefield may one day come under the scrutiny of the main stream media will it cause them to hesitate one or two seconds too long and thus end up dead? We take these young men and we train them to kill efficiently in order to protect our citizens, our society and our Country. We put them in harm’s way and expect them to do things that the common politician wouldn’t even dream about. And then we jump on them if there is any sign of perceived brutality against their foes who by the way, would slit their throat without a thought if they had the chance. Think about the time when you were 18 to 25 and found yourself in a precarious situation where you had to defend yourself against an aggessive person. Would you be thinking about how to get out of the situation without causing your opponent any distress while you tried to save your own bacon. Of course not! Yet these loonies on the left want our soldiers to apply the Charter of Rights principals to their enemies while they are trying to stay alive. I would say to these pompous asses, “ Don’t try to judge these soldiers until you have walked in their shoes”. This is why the military should deal with their own and not put our troops in the civil arena. The other fallacy about this self righteous attitude is the one that says , if we show the world our passion for “being fair and just to all” they may decide to like us and copy our ways. Yet there is no evidence this has or ever will happen. It is a pipe dream that the left likes to trot out to justify their indefensible attacks on our military. In fact it is just the opposite because these vicious killers, dictators and religious fanatics see us as weak and vulnerable when we go after our own. Sure there are extreme cases of injustice within the military of which I would not argue, but those are few and far between and are generally handled expeditiously by the Military Justice System. War is not a pleasant walk in the park, it is a brutal battle to kill or be killed and our soldiers must be free to operate within rules that reflect their situation not the everyday rules that you and I must follow. Maybe one day these elite politicians will volunteer to fight for their Country and then see the light. Do ya think?

Government’s Wasteful Habits
Submitted by DaveI on Tue, 11/17/2009 - 16:20It’s time to create a new model for Government and it won’t affect the Charter of Rights or the Constitution in any way shape or form. This model will change only the way the Government handles the taxpayer’s money. First each area of Government that has a budget must and spends money must have their employees take an oath to handle all financial transactions using the North American “Good Accounting Practices (GAP)” and sign a document to that affect. Next the fiscal year of 2008 will be used as a baseline for all financial comparisons and activities going forward. The next step is somewhat more difficult but it is a must for this model to be successful. Each Department (or section etc) Manager must provide a monthly accounting to their superior and then this manager to their superior all the way to the top bureaucrat in that particular area of the Government. This report will report the normal cost accounting data ie spending against plan etc but it will contain one other piece of accounting information. It will contain a summary indicating any and all actions initiated by the department that have eliminated waste (meaning unnecessary spending) in their area. These savings must be visible in the cost accounting report. In other words it can’t be money saved in one place and lost in another. It has to be a reduction from the total budget. These savings will be tracked and at the end of the year the savings will be translated into a percentage of the budget and each employee will see their pay checks increase by the same percentage. Their salary will remain the same as long as the savings remain intact. If the savings for the next year remain in place but no further savings are found then their salaries are increased by inflation only. If the savings are lost then their salaries are reduced by the same percentage as the loss. Once every five years the baseline will be adjusted accordingly so that an incentive remains. The necessary audits are required to ensure adherence to GAP. The definition of waste does not include viable services and programs but it does include the unnecessary expenditures to deliver them. Millions upon millions are wasted every year and there is not adequate oversight to stop the bleeding of taxpayer cash. Until bureaucrats believe there is something in it for them they are unlikely to spend much time looking to cut out waste and lower the budget because they are always trying to find ways to at least maintain the budget they currently have. That is why there is always a rush to spend money at the end of the year. As the old saying goes “if you don’t use it you lose it” when it comes to government budgets. I think it would be worth a try but it would take a politician with “gonads” to make it happen. Is that an oxymoron?

Tragic Decision to Try Terrorist Masterminds in Civilian Court
Submitted by DaveI on Sun, 11/15/2009 - 13:06The Liberal minded folks in the US Government have finally gone over the edge in a politically motivated exercise that will no doubt backfire on them somewhere down the road. The decision to bring these self admitted terrorists to New York City and put them on trial for their crimes is an attempt to provide a forum for the Dem’s to show they can be tough while also being fair. The idea is to show the American electorate that they can trust the Democrats with National Security while providing the rest of the world with evidence that the USA under the current Government is compassionate and civilized. The first wall you have to hurdle is to call the World Trade Center bombings a “crime” versus an “act of war”. With everything that has happened prior to 9/11 and for sure directly after, it is almost inconceivable that anyone could leap to this conclusion. Secondly by taking this step they are providing war criminals with all of the protections in the Constitution of the United States which should be reserved for US citizens only. Even if you argue that the crime was committed on US soil these guys were certainly not in North America and in fact were captured as Prisoners of War on foreign soil. Third is the fact that the other POW’s in Gitmo either will or have been tried by military tribunals. It is then obvious why the Libs want the high profile guys handled in New York (PUBLICITY!). To the first point it is ludicrous to think that the enemies of the USA will think any better of them because they put these guys on trial. If you look closely at these people and any of the Countries that sympathize with them, you will see that their method of doling out punishment is far more severe and undemocratic than anything seen in the western world. Do you honestly think taking this step will change their thinking? The other western nations (primarily Europe) are almost impotent in terms of their ability to deal with terrorists so why should anyone care what they think? In fact the publicity of these trials will play right into the terrorist’ hands as they will have a national stage to berate the USA which will provide a strong recruiting tool for young Jihadists to help their cause. To the second point can you imagine the life that a judge and jury would have after the trial of these radical Muslims? Does the name Salmon Rushdie conjure up any images? For the last point I have to take you back to WWII and the Nuremburg trials that saw the German leaders who developed and executed the atrocities of that war. They were tried in a World Court under Military rules of procedure. The soldiers were kept in prison camps until the end of the hostilities and then set free to return home. What is wrong with this model? It doesn’t work for the Libs because they see the terrorists as misguided souls that will suddenly wake up and embrace the United States and the Western world when they find out how nice we are. They want to convert the world to our democratic style of life. While that is a nice objective I thought our Country’s first priority was to protect its citizens, and not to save the world? God bless the unfortunate families that lost friends and family in the World Trade Center tragedy. They will have to put up with these arrogant !@#$%$%% standing up on TV every day thumping their chests and berating the United States of America along with their loved ones. I say shame on the political opportunists.

Fort Hood Massacre
Submitted by DaveI on Tue, 11/10/2009 - 16:44It is more than interesting to watch how the major news networks report on this horrific story. The obvious facts are that an individual in the military went onto the base at Fort Hood and proceeded to shoot people with a gun killing 13 and wounding up to 31 others. The so called mainstream media immediately reported that this guy had snapped and shot people while he was insane. The Muslim and Arab organizations within the States immediately denounced this act and the individual. Then came the search for the causes of this insane episode such as, “could it have been post traumatic stress syndrome?” Did the military overlook the harassment he may have felt being a Muslim in the armed services? These and many other scenarios played out time after time on the airwaves and the talking heads had a field day trying to analyse this thing to death. Then, as I normally do, I turn on Fox News and Bill O’Reilly’s “The Factor” and this is what I heard. This guy was either completely insane or it was a jihadist attack on American soil committed by a Muslim terrorist sympathetic to the opposite side in the current war now underway. Straight and to the point without the politically correct filter applied at the main stream media outlets. As much as the Liberal press wanted this guy to be insane it now appears as more and more evidence is uncovered that he was definitely was on a mission of jihad. It also appears that his actions over the past two years have escalated towards this catastrophic event and no one did a thing to stop it. Why you ask? My guess is that it was due to the Politically Correct Doctrine that has taken over North America as the Libs just don’t want to upset anyone, even at the at the cost of human lives. Do you remember the folks that trained to fly the planes into the World Trade center? They did it right on American soil and because it was the first action of war on the homeland you may be able to excuse people for missing this pattern of behaviour. But there is no excuse for, if the evidence supports it, to allow this guy to operate like he is alleged to have done, with full immunity from scrutiny in this current day and age. I will wait to see the evidence but if it supports the theory of PC behaviour in the Military then whoever shuffled the evidence into the corner to avoid upsetting a group of people will have blood on their hands. They will be as complicit in the murder of these people as the shooter, make no mistake about it. The Democrats will want to turn this into a “Police Action” rather than an “Act of War” regardless of the motives of this guy. In this way of course he can plead temporary insanity and the problem is solved as far as they are concerned. I certainly don’t want to see all Muslims blamed for these types of attacks but when the militant jihadists and the passive Muslims read out of the same book it becomes difficult to figure out who interprets the scriptures from the Koran literally and who do not. Hopefully a way will be found because if these attacks continue the entire situation will take on a new dimension because people will get tired of waiting for them to happen and start to take matters into their own hands.

2009 George Orwell Where are You?
Submitted by DaveI on Thu, 11/05/2009 - 16:44If you haven’t read the famous book by George Orwell written prior to the 1950’s you should take the time to peruse this phenomenal piece of writing. It has been a long time since I have turned the pages of this novel but when I was driving home the other night it automatically popped into my head as I heard about the New LED’s being installed on this very highway. Now instead of the normal one colour screens with simple text on them hanging over the roadway we will now be able to see large full colour messages and even videos. This reminded me of the Orwell character who was living in the world of “Big Brother” the see all know all arm of the Government. When you consider the fact that cameras are everywhere now recording people driving home, going to the store, visiting the ATM and on and on you can see that we are not that far from Orwell’s world. In fact you can be traced pretty quickly if someone wants to find you. They can track your GPS signal, your cell phone signal or where you used your credit or ATM card and then look for you on any one of many CC TV cameras in every store or street corner. Some cars even have GPS chips installed for safety and anti theft which can be used to locate a vehicle in an emergency. “Big Brother is Watching You” is not so ridiculous as it was thought to be decades ago. Think about this statement “The “Party” has taken over all aspects of life and is intent on eradicating individuality”. Now apply this thinking to application of social programs throughout the western world and you should see the link. Socialism by its definition destroys individualism through the removal of individual responsibility for oneself. If the Government takes care of you it follows that you then need not worry about expending any effort on making your life better just follow along with the herd and line up at the trough when it is your turn. Welfare, unemployment, health care, food stamps etc are all entitlements that are provided by the Government with no obligation but to show up with your handout. Before you yell, “you heartless bum” remember that I am not talking about the small percentage of truly needy people that require the safety nets, I am speaking about the culture of “someone owes me something” that has been slowly forged over decades by the Liberals and Socialists in the western Governments. What about this statement that can drive chills up your spine as you see this art in play in the news day after day? “Who controls the past controls the future; who controls the present controls the past.” Think about the constant attempts by rogue governments that try to say the Holocaust didn’t happen or the current governments that remove the records of the atrocities from school history books in order not to offend anyone. Listen to the TV news networks after a major political event that is good for one party but not for the other. On one station you will hear the news from a perspective that takes the bad news and spins it into good news. On the other station you will hear the good news spun into excellent news. Very rarely will you find any bad news a day or two after the event as everyone has moved on and really doesn’t care who was right and who was wrong. The talking heads or “spin doctors” are an amazing breed and can change results through distortion and downright lies without blinking an eye. They have no morals, principles or a conscience that guide them and therefore are immune to the truth. A few examples of life under “Big Brother” but don’t take my word read the book.
I may reread 1984 again and then take another crack at providing you with some other interesting links to our own path towards Oceania.
